RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil - Dresser Wayne marked a major milestone in the company??s history with the 500,000th fuel dispenser produced from its Rio de Janeiro facility. A commemorative gold-painted Global Century fuel dispenser celebrates the employees, partners and customers who have contributed to 79 years of success and growth in Latin America.

"This dispenser is the culmination of decades of hard work, dedication, challenges, opportunities and progress," said Dresser Wayne Latin America President Manuel Lusquinos during the celebration event. "We have come a long way since three employees first opened a small office here in the summer of 1931. Our achievements extend well beyond our company??s history. We have been, and continue to be, a significant part of the fuel industry??s history in Latin America and the world."

Established in the United States in 1891 as Wayne Oil Tank Company, the company began to expand operations into Latin America in the early 1930s to serve the promising trend in automobile sales. The first office in Rio de Janeiro imported pumps, dispensers and parts from the U.S. plant in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Brazil office??s scope expanded quickly as the demand for fuel grew dramatically to keep pace with the automobile market. By the 1950s, the company??s Brazil site had become a full design, engineering, manufacturing and service plant.

Today Dresser Wayne Brazil employs more than 300 people and develops, produces, and exports innovative retail fuel-solutions and technologies. The facility covers 12,000 square meters, and is the point of distribution of products such as dispensers, point-of-sale and payment systems, as well as fuel-equipment parts to more than 80 countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The site??s commitment to exceptional safety, product quality and environmentally friendly business practices is recognized through ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications.

Dresser Wayne is launching a limited commemorative program for customers. The next 1,000 dispensers from Dresser Wayne Brazil will include a gold plate inscribed with a production number.

"The commemorative plates are a wonderful way for our customers to participate in the celebration. We want to thank them for their loyalty to our company and for being a part of our success," said Cristian Bazaga, international dispenser marketing manager for Dresser Wayne, in a press release. "These dispensers are destined to become unique collector??s items in the years to come."
