SACRAMENTO – The California Lottery has significantly upgraded its “Lucky Retailers” website to help lottery players find retailers that sell the most high-paying tickets or the most winning tickets in a year’s time.

State lottery officials have identified more than 4,000 retailers (out of the state’s 21,000-plus lottery retailers) who sell winning tickets at a comparatively high rate, according to an article in The Modesto Bee.

Lottery officials said the database tracks high payouts and winning tickets over the previous calendar year, identifying retailers that sold a winning ticket of $100,000 or more, sold an average of at least 400 winning tickets a week or paid out an average of $4,000 or more weekly in winning tickets. The site also includes “Historical Lucky Retailers,” those that have sold at least two winning tickets of $1 million or more since the California Lottery started in 1985.
