OCEANPORT, N.J. – Earlier this week, more than 40 QuickChek employees —including corporate vice presidents and district leaders — lent a hand to help those still affected by Hurricane Sandy, helping demolish and rebuild homes in the New Jersey towns of Oceanport and Sea Bright.

Whitehouse Station, N.J.-based QuickChek teamed with the Sea Bright Rising organization to help the more than 200 families who own homes in the storm-ravaged area that they cannot afford to rebuild on their own.

“We pride ourselves in being active members of the communities we serve and doing what we can to help our state recover,” said QuickChek CEO Dean Durling in a press release. “As these efforts are still ongoing, so are ours.”

In the immediate aftermath of the storm in November 2012, the company collected $110,569 from its customers, store team members and vendor partners through a limited time, in-store donation program at all of its New Jersey and New York locations to benefit the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. The chain also raised an additional $13,000 through the sale of fresh brewed coffees in its 137 stores on National Dine Out Day in June 2013.

QuickChek has also been active in creating awareness for continued rebuilding and restoring the shore efforts. At this past weekend’s 32nd annual QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning, the signature balloon was the QuickChek Flighthouse, a 115 foot tall flying lighthouse which was flown to pay respects to those affected by the storm.
