KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Casey’s General Stores is requiring customers purchasing energy shots to show their ID, reports CBS St. Louis.

Brian Johnson, vice president of finance for Casey's, told the news source that the convenience store chain will not sell energy shots and pills to anyone under the age of 18. Casey’s reputation as a family-friendly chain didn’t mesh with selling energy shots and pills to youngsters.

“For us, we just had a concern that we would hate to see a minor purchase multiple energy shots or pills and basically consume them in a manner that they’re not intended to be used for,” he said.
