TAMPA, Fla. – The Pediatric Cancer Foundation (PCF) recognized The Radiant Group for raising $509,149 over the past seven years from its annual Sunshine Campaign.

Since 2009, The Radiant Group has run an annual campaign where employees offered customers the opportunity to make a $1 donation to PCF at the register. The Sunshine Campaign aims to increase awareness about childhood cancer by encouraging corporate partners to donate through a percentage of sales, a round-up program or a general promotion. Radiant is the founding partner of the Sunshine Campaign.

“The Pediatric Cancer Foundation is deeply grateful for Radiant’s leadership, commitment and dedication to helping PCF achieve its mission of finding less toxic, more targeted therapies for children battling cancer,” said Nancy Crane, executive director of the Pediatric Cancer Foundation.

Frank D. Capitano, principal of Radiant and president of the PCF Board of Directors, commented that the cause is near and dear to many of the company’s team members. “Most consumers might say we’re in the gasoline, sandwich and coffee business, but we’re actually in the business of servicing people, families and our community. We interact with tens of thousands of people daily. We care about the challenges families in our community face and we want to give back. I cannot think of a better way to honor the children battling cancer in our community than by including our stores in the Sunshine Campaign’s effort.”

Tim Switzer, executive vice president and COO of Radiant added, “Every member of our team has taken pride in how we build off what we did the prior year — consistently achieving more success not only in dollars raised, but more importantly, awareness generated. Though our team is diverse in its education, experience and background, a common thread found in all of us is a dedication and passion to help those in our community who need it most.”
