AVON PARK, Fla. – Market 27 co-owner and general manager John Gallenstein has turned a long, blank front wall of his central Florida c-store into a vibrant advertisement for his onsite foodservice, Highlands Today reports. Gallenstein hired local artist James Strickland to airbrush images of pizza, ice cream, burgers, friends, hot dogs, soda and beer, along with people enjoying those foods, onto an 8-foot-tall by 70-foot-long wall.

The artist devised the piece to appear to passersby that they were looking through a window into the store,” said John’s mother Debbie Cantrell, who co-owns the convenience store with her husband, Jim Gallenstein.

The goal of the mural was to help alert customers to what was inside the store. “I’ve had some customers in the past who came in and said they almost hadn’t stopped because they didn’t know what was inside the store,” Gallenstein said. “I think James did a very good job for us. The goal is to help attract more customers, and I think all of the images of food will do that.”

Strickland aimed for a “fun and festive” feel to the mural, per the owners’ request. The mural took him four days to complete. “It worked out really nicely. I’ve been getting tons of compliments,” he said.

The convenience store offers homemade pizzas, ribs, wings, hand-dipped ice cream, subs, salads and burgers. A bar dispenses wine and beer, including a good variety of craft beer.
