Taco Bell to Begin Delivery Service in 90+ Cities

Partnership with DoorDash app will bring tacos to your door in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas areas.

IRVINE, Calif. – Starting today, it may not be necessary to make that “run to the border” when a taco craving strikes, as Taco Bell may just be bringing the border to you. Delivery service, through a partnership with the startup delivery company DoorDash, begins today in a market of more than 90 cities and 200 stores in the Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas metro areas. Taco Bell has said that it plans to bring delivery nationwide, but has not specified a time frame for wider rollout of delivery.

Delivery customers will place their Taco Bell order through DoorDash’s app or website and a DoorDash employee then picks up the order from the local store and completes the delivery. There's no minimum order amount, but a $3.99 flat fee is added to all orders. During trials of the service earlier this year, orders took just under 40 minutes from placing the order to receipt of delivery, according to a Taco Bell spokesperson.

The Taco Bell announcement comes as other foodservice giants like Starbucks and McDonald’s also try their hand at delivery to meet the needs of increasingly convenience-motivated, “on-demand” consumers.
