ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The next wave of competition coming from Europe may be around food, according to NACS International Committee Chairman Frank Gleeson.

In this week’s Convenience Matters podcast, “A Conversation with Aramark,” cohosts Jeff Lenard and Carolyn Schnare of NACS talked with Gleeson, COO of Aramark Northern Europe, about trends around the world and their eventual impact on retailers in the United States.

Gleeson, who is highly engaged with NACS and the global convenience retail community, shares with listeners that it’s important for retailers to recognize emerging trends and their impact on global markets. He stressed that global convenience retailers should engage with NACS to learn from their international peers, who are at different levels of the spectrum in terms of foodservice, regulatory impact and omnichannel competition.

Convenience Matters focuses on topics related to convenience stores. Episodes can be downloaded on iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher and at convenience-matters.com.
