ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The NACS In Store Program works to help congressional members understand the convenience industry, from how c-stores run to the legislative issues that affect operations. This spring, the program received a number of awards, including one accepted by NACS staff at an awards dinner in New York City earlier this week.

2016 AAPC Pollie Award: Gold Award: Best Field Campaign. The Pollie Awards are “the most prized and sought-after awards” in the political communications and public affairs industries. Every entry, whether submitted by a large consulting company or an individual, is considered equal in competing for honors of excellence. A blind jury of professional peers selects AAPC award winners. Esquire magazine dubbed the Pollies “the Oscars of political advertising.”

2016 American Business Awards: Communications or PR Campaign of the Year—Public Affairs: Silver Stevie Winner. More than 3,400 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year. Stevie Awards conferred in seven programs around the globe, honoring organizations of all types and sizes and the people behind them. The Stevies recognize outstanding performances in the workplace worldwide. Some of the judges’ comments about the NACS entry read:

  • “Very clever strategy and brilliantly executed!”
  • “Wow, really unique campaign and brilliant approach!”
  • “I think this was an extremely effective campaign for exposing legislators first hand to the issues facing convenience stores.”

2015 MarCom Platinum Award: Special Events, NACS In Store. This is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals with entries from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

2015 MarCom Platinum Award: Public Relations Campaign, NACS In Store. The MarCom is also a creative competition for any individual or company involved in the concept, writing and design of print, visual, audio and Web materials and programs.

“We’re extremely honored to be awarded these great distinctions, as it means the value of the program is reaching beyond just Washington, D.C.,” said Caroline Quat, political engagement manager for NACS. “But just because we’ve won a few awards doesn’t mean we’re going to slow down!”

If your store would like to be considered to host a NACS In Store event with one of your members of Congress, please email Kelly Fink, NACS senior director of political engagement.
