MINNEAPOLIS – Buffalo Wild Wings will soon debut a smaller format restaurant concept called B-Dubs Express, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports. Two pilot stores will open in Minnesota this summer: one in Edina on July 24, and another in Hopkins on August 7.

Each location will have approximately 2,500 square feet and seating for between 35 and 50 customers. Buffalo Wild Wings generally operate with around 6,000 square feet with seating for 250 guests.

B-Dubs Express will have a counter-service format to streamline takeout to capitalize on the growing demand for off-premise dining. “We want to take the Fast Break, 15-minute lunch guarantee in our full-house restaurants and apply that whole mentality to B-Dubs Express,” said Todd Kronebusch, vice president of market development. “It’s about convenience, speed, quality of food and value.”

Buffalo Wild Wings has had B-Dubs Express in the works for about a year and a half. Four additional stores are being developed, although the company hasn’t released exact locations yet. The company launched its restaurant with counter service before switching to its sit-down format in the early 2000s.

B-Dubs Express will mirror Buffalo Wild Wings in many ways, such as serving beer and wine, and featuring a menu with wings, chicken tenders, burgers, chicken sandwiches and salads, plus a selection of sides. DoorDash will provide delivery services. Future iterations might have takeout options that don’t require customers to exit their vehicles. Kronebusch also mentioned they were toying with alternative concepts, such as “B-Dubs to go” at college campuses, malls and stadiums.
