SYDNEY - Mea culpa! Beginning June 5, McDonald??s in Australia will begin a massive campaign, apologizing to consumer for serving sub-par coffee, The Australian reports.

"We are the largest coffee chain in Australia, but we know we are not the most loved," McDonald??s COO Helen Nash told newspaper, noting that consumer feedback about the coffee has been overwhelming.

"Australians have a very sophisticated palate and we are not delivering a strong cup of coffee," she added. "Customers have told us we can do better and we are saying 'we have heard you and now we hope you notice the difference.??"

The newspaper found that it wasn??t hard to solicit honest feedback on the street from McDonald??s customers, who admitted they frequented the QSR because of its convenience, not quality. "When it comes to coffee, McDonald??s is definitely at the bottom of my list," said a 22-year-old from Surry Hills.

The Australian also posted its own poll asking readers to weigh in on whether McDonald??s coffee is really that bad. Well, looks like it is, according to 80 percent of respondents.
