SAUSALITO, Calif. - More employees want to know if a company will work with them on developing a good work-to-life balance. Glassdoor has compiled list of the top 25 companies that have good work-life balance, Yahoo! Finance reports.

Nestlé Purina Petcare Company snagged the number-one spot with its dog-friendly workplace, followed by tech-consultancy MITRE for its family-friendliness and business analytics software provider SAS Institute with its onsite childcare, health-care and fitness centers.

The list reflects businesses that provide policies and atmospheres conducive to balancing work and family/personal responsibilities. "A lot of companies talk about a good work-life balance," said Robert Hohman, CEO/co-founder of Glassdoor. "But not that many deliver. The [companies] on this list actually deliver."

The companies on the list generally fall into two camps: those that allow telecommuting and flexible scheduling and those that give workers an opportunity to bring their life to work. "Companies that have a strong work-life balance are optimized for long-term success," said Hohman. "Those companies tend to keep employers longer, and those employees tend to be happier. And I would argue, in turn, those employees tend to be more productive over the long term."

Two gasoline and convenience store retailers also made the top 25 list. Sheetz grabbed the number 13 spot. Employees of the convenience store chain say they are "very satisfied" with their work-life balance. One store manager said, "I love my job." Other employees positively commented on the great benefits and compensation and flexible schedule as reasons why they worked at Sheetz.

Chevron came in at number 21, with employees saying they are "satisfied" with their work-life balance. One Chevron engineer commented that he has a "great work-life balance, but it??s tough coping with the bureaucracy." Other workers said they had a "fantastic work-life balance, especially the flextime and nine-day-fortnight system."
