Domino’s continues tech evolution with new ordering via Twitter.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Just in case voice ordering, or ordering from your Smart TV, is simply too much work for pizza lovers, Domino’s customers will soon be able to order pizza by tweet.

Starting today, Twitter users can send a pizza emoji to Domino’s official Twitter account, @dominos, and a pizza will show up at their door. Here’s how it works: Customers fill out a Domino’s Pizza Profile online, with an “Easy Order.” They can then tweet #EasyOrder or the pizza emoji to @Dominos. Domino’s will then send the Easy Order through an automated Twitter direct message for the customer to confirm the order.

This embrace of Twitter is the pizza retailer’s latest move to give customers as many ordering options as possible. The company already lets customers order pizzas from Ford vehicles, Samsung Smart TVs and smartwatches. Its app also has voice ordering capabilities. Digital ordering accounts for half of all of Domino’s orders.

Ease of ordering is given considerable credit for the chain’s recent sales growth. Same-store sales rose 14.5 percent in the U.S. in the first quarter ending March 22. Domestic same-store sales have increased for 16 straight quarters.

“Our approach continues to shape this new tech to table category,” Domino’s CEO Patrick Doyle said during the company’s earnings call in April. “And our innovation won’t slow down anytime soon.”
