DENVER - Yesterday, Colorado became the 42nd state to offer Mega Millions tickets, the Lottery Post reports. Colorado has offered the other multi-state jackpot game, Powerball, since 2001.

"We??re thrilled to give our players the opportunity to win another large jackpot," said Colorado Lottery Acting Director Tom Kitts. "We believe Mega Millions will complement our current product line and allow us to raise more money for all of the great projects the Lottery supports."

Last October, the two groups operating Mega Millions and Powerball joined together to allow states to cross-sell the games. To date, both games are available in 39 states. Drawings for Mega Millions occur on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Colorado spends the proceeds from its lottery games on new trails, open space and protecting wildlife via Great Outdoors Colorado, the Conservation Trust Fund and Colorado State Parks.
