ALEXANDRIA, Va. -- Jacob Schram, group president of European operations at Alimentation Couche-Tard, has been named the 2017 NACS Insight European Industry Leader of the Year Award. The award, sponsored by Mondelez International, will be presented during the NACS Insight Convenience Summit–Europe in London on June 14.

“Mondelez International is honored to sponsor the prestigious 2017 NACS Insight European Industry Leader of the Year Award,” said Rick Brindle, vice president of industry development at Mondelez International. “We both congratulate and thank Jacob and his team for the vision, passion and many contributions they have made to our industry.”

Schram, formerly the CEO for Statoil Fuel & Retail, was appointed to his current position at Couche-Tard in June 2012. Schram joined Statoil in 1996 and held various management positions including country manager of Statoil Retail Norway from 1999 to 2004, and senior vice president Statoil Retail Europe from 2004 to 2006.

On September 22, 2015, Couche-Tard announced its plans to bring a refreshed Circle K global convenience brand to the market, replacing existing Circle K, Statoil, Mac’s and Kangaroo Express branding on stores and service stations across Canada, the United States, Scandinavia and Central and Eastern Europe. Throughout the process, Schram’s leadership and passion have been instrumental in leading the company’s goal to become the preferred destination for convenience and fuel among consumers worldwide.

“I am very honored and humbled by this award,” said Schram. “This is a result of a collective team effort. Together we have managed to handle an extensive global rebranding process without losing our identity or our customers.”
Schram will deliver a keynote address on June 14 at the Convenience Summit-Europe, sharing the company’s highly rewarding and emotional rebrand process for Circle K convenience stores worldwide, and the evolution of the Circle K brand. Immediately following the address, Schram will receive the award and participate in an interactive conversation with NACS President and CEO Henry Armour.
