Less than one week into the trial, the Golden Arches has run out of its seasoned French fries.

NEW YORK – On May 3, McDonald’s announced that a new flavor of French fries—Gilroy Garlic Fries—were being tested in McDonald’s restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using a purée made with garlic from Gilroy, California, coined the Garlic Capital of the World, the fries were being served in four restaurants in the South Bay area.

The garlic fries were being promoted as a trend at McDonald’s to experiment with regional flavors and food on its menu. And as of May 7, the test has been put on hold: “Our #GilroyGarlicFries were such a hit that we have a temporary shortage of supplies. We'll keep you updated on their return in a few weeks!” @McD_BayArea tweeted.

“The response from our customers has been very positive,” said Nick Vergis, a McDonald’s franchisee, in the press release. “We enjoy giving our customers options and bringing this local flavor to our world-famous French fries.”

Fortune reports that although Bay Area diners now have to wait for more garlic fries, this is actually good news. The Gilroy Garlic Fries could be made available at nearly 250 McDonald’s restaurants across the San Francisco Bay Area in August. “Considering this may be McDonald’s bet test ever, the chances are looking really good,” notes the news source.
