ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Yesterday evening, attendees at the Conexxus Annual Conference took time to honor two women who contributed countless hours over the past 20 years toward the mission of bettering the profession. Anne Seki and Ann Dozier were both recognized as the newest inductees to the Conexxus Technology Hall of Fame, which honors individuals who have distinguished themselves by improving the profitability of the industry through advancement of technology and technology standards.

Ann Seki, who was inducted posthumously, was described – very affectionately – as “an absolute bulldog,” by Conexxus Executive Director Gray Taylor. Seki, who was with Chevron during her time with Conexxus, joined the organization in 2009 and “not only engaged with Conexxus on data security, but created the Data Security Committee, one of our organization’s most vibrant groups,” recalled Taylor. “Ann generated the energy to motivate us and really moved the needle in this industry.”

Valero’s Phil Schwartz joined Taylor in recalling Seki’s legacy and what it has meant for data security and our industry in particular: “Ann was the one set us up to make data security an integral part of what we do. When she started talking about it years ago, no one thought it was a big deal,” he said. “But look at it now. Our industry is ahead of the curve and it’s because of Ann.”

Ron Hilmes of Chevron accepted the award on Seki’s behalf.

Ann Dozier, who was with Coca-Cola for much of her nearly 20-year tenure with Conexxus, is known as an early proponent of standards and supply chain excellence. “From the beginning, Ann brought technology to the forefront and was involved in our mission with her whole heart,” said Ann Zecca of Conexxus, introducing Dozier.

“When I started with Conexxus, I thought about what I could get done, then I thought about how I could influence others, then about how I could teach others, and now I think about the legacy I can leave,” said Dozier, who accepted the honor wearing one of her signature “Coca-Cola red” outfits. Dozier, who is now with Southern Wine and Spirits, recalled the powerful commitment and industry resources provided by Coca-Cola over the years in order to help support Conexxus. She also reflected on previous Hall of Fame inductees and how they had influenced the industry over the years. “I’m honored to be part of thei day and part of this group of esteemed colleagues,” Dozier said.

The induction was held during the Conexxus Annual Conference in Annapolis, Maryland on Monday, the first day of the week-long conference. For more about Conexxus, visit conexxus.org.
