Powdered Alcohol Unlikely to Hit Shelves Soon

Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau says approval of a powdered alcohol product was an error.

WASHINGTON – “Palcohol,” a powdered alcohol product, won’t be coming to store shelves anytime in the near future.

Although some of Palcohol’s labels gained approval from the federal Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) on April 8, agency spokesperson Tom Hogue clarified last week that the approvals were issued in error, reports USA Today.

Palcohol notes on its website that TTB actually approved its product “some time ago,” but that the company was “caught off guard by the TTB making some of our approved labels public … As a result, people visited this website that we thought was under the radar because we had not made a formal announcement of Palcohol.”
