A customized burger contest at McDonald's Germany crowns the "Pretzelnator," a classic McDonald's hamburger sandwiched in a pretzel bun.

FRANKFURT, GERMANY - In a move sure to crowd U.S. originating Lufthansa, McDonald€™s Germany began selling the "Pretzelnator" today, a classic McDonald€™s burger nestled in an oh-so-soft pretzel bun.

The tasty (we€™re guessing) sandwich is the brainchild result of McDonald€™s "My Burger" campaign, an online burger configuration competition that allowed fans the opportunity to create a customized burger, donning it with an individual name.

More than 300,000 burger recipes were submitted this year, which were open to consumer voting to determine the McBest.

Five million votes later and the Pretzelnator earned top prize, which affords the fantasy creation a place on the menu at all 1,415 McDonald€™s Germany restaurants. Four runner-up burgers will be featured later this year.

The "My Burger" campaign debuted last year with tight integration among Facebook, television, radio, and in-store advertising. Consumer engagement doubled this year.
