MONTGOMERY, Ala. - First, a bill passes allowing stronger wine up to 24 percent alcohol by volume from the limit of 16.5 percent by volume. Then, Gov. Bob Riley vetoes the bill. Then, this week, the Alabama Legislature votes to override the veto.

The result? Convenience stores, grocery stores and other retail stores will be able to stronger wines that are already being sold at state ABC stores, the Associated Press.

State Rep. Craig Ford of Gadsden, who sponsored the bill, said that it would allow "finer ports and other wines" to be sold in other retail stores, while opponents such as state Rep. Steve Clouse claimed it would make it easier for teens to buy stronger wines, suggesting that convenience stores aren??t capable of properly verifying IDs.

How many teens do you know with a sophisticated taste for fine wines?
