Chobani Goes Beyond Greek

Look for Chobani Oats and new, savory dip later this year.

NORWICH, NY – Facing increasing competition, Chobani will expand beyond just Greek yogurt beginning this summer, the Associated Press reports.

Starting in July, Chobani will launch Chobani Oats, yogurt mixed with fruit and oats, and Chobani Indulgent, an indulgent dessert for children. And later this year, it will introduce a savory dip, said Chief Marketing Officer Peter McGuinness.

The privately held Chobani has expanded quickly over the past few years to become the biggest seller of Greek yogurt in the United States. However, competition is heating up, with General Mills and Danone committing to their Greek yogurt brands.

McGuinness said Chobani Oats would be positioned in the breakfast category, competing with "bars, cereal and oatmeal" rather than other yogurts. The cups will cost between $1.20 and $1.50.
