Acclaimed Thought Leader Peter Sheahan Named NACS Show Speaker

Sheahan, who is internationally known for inspiring innovative business thinking, will help kick off the industry's biggest event of the year.

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Acclaimed global thought leader Peter Sheahan is kicking off this year??s NACS Show, which takes place October 7 to 10 in Las Vegas.

Sheahan will speak during the NACS Show Opening General Session on October 8. He is the founder and CEO of ChangeLabs, a global consultancy that works with some of the world's most effective organizations and individuals to deliver insights into the changing needs of customers and staff. With his groundbreaking bestseller "Generation Y," Sheahan was among the first to recognize the Generation Y trend in the workplace. He has written six books that identify key shifts in the contemporary business landscape, including his latest, "Making It Happen," which examines buying behavior and market positioning.

Sheahan also is internationally known for inspiring innovative business thinking in his presentations and was recognized as the National Speaker Association??s 2006 Speaker of the Year. He has been named one of the 25 Hottest New Speakers in America and one of the 25 Most Influential Speakers in the industry.

NACS Show retailer attendees, as well as wholesalers and distributors, can register for the event and secure housing at nacsshow.com. Registration information for suppliers will be available in June.

Full registration, which includes admission to the general sessions, educational sessions, expo and the welcome reception, is $295 for NACS retailer members and $495 for other retailer attendees. One-day registration also is available ($195 for NACS retailer members and $295 for other retailers). These super-saver rates are available until August 1. Other rates apply for non-exhibiting manufacturers, service providers, brokers and consultants. Exhibitor registration will be available in June.

NACS has negotiated room rates for more than 20 hotels in proximity to the Las Vegas Convention Center and attendees can request hotel preferences online beginning April 2. Early submission of housing requests will increase the likelihood that attendees will be able to stay at the hotel of their choice within the NACS Show housing block. Equally important, these hotels have access to the shuttles for transport to and from the Las Vegas Convention Center.

In 2011, 22,312 attendees were at the NACS Show in Chicago, a 1.5% increase over last year??s attendance. Attendees came from a record 58 countries and international attendance was a record 1,913 delegates. The NACS Show featured a 387,000-plus net-square-foot exposition floor with 1,333 exhibiting companies ?" of which 324 companies were new to the NACS Show. Extending the value of the expo to both retailers and exhibitors, the Cool New Products Preview Room featured a record number of products.

In addition, the NACS Show in 2011 featured three days of standing-room-only general sessions, 53 educational educational sessions, four training sessions and a Category Management Seminar. The educational sessions alone drew a cumulative 6,750 attendees, averaging 120 attendees per workshop. Reflecting the growing international scope of the NACS Show, select educational sessions were translated into Portuguese, Spanish and Chinese.
