WALTHAM, Mass. – Global
Partners LP’s Alltown convenience stores and the CFMS Fund Foundation Inc. recently
donated $300,000 to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The money was
raised through a combination of Alltown customer contributions and other
fundraising activities, and the donation will help support MS
research and local efforts to help individuals and families affected by MS.
“Finding a cure for
multiple sclerosis is very important to Global Partners, as the disease has
touched lives within the Global family,” said Andrew Slifka, executive vice
president, in a press release. “We have been dedicated to this cause since the
1990s, and we thank our customers and employees for helping to find a cure for
MS as soon as possible through their tremendous generosity.”
“We are grateful for the
amazing support of Alltown’s employees and customers and the CFMS Fund, as we
endeavor to help the individuals and their families dealing with this disease
every day,” said Doug Bryant, chairman of the National MS Society, Greater New
England Chapter. “It is symbolic of the tremendous character of the Alltown
team.”
Of the total amount raised, $175,000 will be distributed
to the society’s Greater New England Chapter, which serves 19,000 individuals
and families affected by MS in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont.
An additional $125,000 will be distributed to the Connecticut Chapter.
