LANSING, Mich. - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder agrees that there are more important things retailers can be doing than placing individual pricing stickers on products and goods.

"The people that are in this industry will tell you there's much more worthwhile things that people could be doing than spending their time on stickers," said Snyder, who??s first job at age 14 involved applying price tags at the Gun Lake Northside Grocery store, the Associated Press notes.

This week Snyder signed into law legislation that ends a decades-old requirement that retailers put a price tag on each item they sell, reports the Detroit News. The new law takes effect Sept. 1.

Ed Deeb, president of the Michigan Food & Beverage Association, told the news source that he is pleased with the change, while Meijer President Mark Murray said it's natural that prices will fall as a cost for retailers is eliminated.
