NACS Member Jim Tudor Honored by Georgia Legislature

Georgia House Resolution 287 recognizes contributions of longtime leader of the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores.

ATLANTA – On Wednesday, the Georgia House of Representatives recognized Jim Tudor for his many accomplishments and years of service on behalf of the convenience store industry as president of the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores. Tudor, who has long been an active and influential member of NACS, will be retiring later this year.

House Resolution 287 reads:
A RESOLUTION

Recognizing and commending Mr. Jim Tudor on the grand occasion of his retirement and inviting him to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Jim Tudor graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1972 before valiantly serving and protecting his fellow Americans as a member of the United States Army; an

WHEREAS, he worked at 7-Eleven for nine years before he began working for the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores in January, 1987; and

WHEREAS, he has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of his community and state as evidenced dramatically by his superlative service with the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores; and

WHEREAS, he was honored with the Liberty Award from Brown and Williamson in 2000 and was recognized by James Magazine as one of the top ten lobbyist or trade organizations from 2012 through 2014; and

WHEREAS, he has received various Pigeon Awards from The Pigeon Committee, a group of fellow lobbyists in the State of Georgia, and he was honored with the 2012 Annual Golden Pigeon award for his work toward the passage of Sunday alcohol sales in Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he is united in love and marriage to Sandra Tudor and is blessed with four amazing children, James, Kelly, Bobby, and Bill, and five wonderful grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Jim Tudor is an active member of the Covington Rotary Club and is also active with the Georgia Youth Assembly, the YMCA, and various other groups as a mentor and leader; and

WHEREAS, he is a devout Christian man with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tudor has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia Association of Convenience Stores and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body congratulate Mr. Jim Tudor upon the grand occasion of his retirement; extend to him their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness; and invite him to be recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
