Agreement allows customers to pick up packages at almost 4,000 gas stations in Spain and Portugal.

NEW YORK – PYMNTS.com reports that Amazon has signed a deal with Repsol that allows customers to pick up their online orders at about 4,000 gas stations in Spain and Portugal.

Amazon and Repsol already tested the service in Italy, and the service is available in the United States via Amazon Lockers in cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. Repsol also has a car sharing service and EV charging stations, notes the news source.

In February 2016, PYMNTS.com notes that Reuters reported Amazon was looking to help its shopper base across Europe tap into the same locker network that is available at retailers like 7-Eleven in the United States.

Amazon has job postings for the new network in Spain and Portugal, which suggest that Amazon’s plans entail more pickup options for delivery (including the locker option): “Amazon pickup locations, including Amazon Locker, are exciting, new delivery solutions that we are introducing into the German marketplace.” The news source notes that Amazon is also reportedly looking to fill more positions for its Amazon Locker service in Munich, Paris and Luxembourg.
