ALEXANDRIA, Va. – “What’s the best time to buy gas?” is one of the many questions consumers have asked NACS, and the feedback is revealed in the latest Convenience Matters podcast, “Gas Prices: The Questions You Want Answered.”
Podcast co-hosts Jeff Lenard, NACS vice president of strategic industry initiatives, and John Eichberger, executive director of the Fuels Institute, answer a number of common gas price-related questions, including:
- Why are gas prices higher in the summer than in the winter?
- How come gas prices are cheaper in some areas of the country?
- How much does a retailer make on a gallon of gas?
- Is there a difference between branded and unbranded gas?
- What is the importance of octane?
- Can cellphones cause fires at the pump?
“Nearly 40 million Americans fill up their gas tanks on a daily basis, oftentimes searching for a good price and convenient location,” Lenard said. “There is arguably no product that consumers think more about on a daily basis—yet at the same time is so misunderstood. That’s why we answered some common questions we are frequently asked about gas prices.”
A new Convenience Matters podcast will be released every Monday, focusing on topics related to c-stores. NACS Daily announced the podcasts in late January.
