CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Stripes Convenience Stores announced its second campaign for public elementary school students to learn about fresh vegetables through the Stripes Fresh Learning Garden seeded by Laredo Taco Company grant.

The Stripes Fresh Learning Garden will give students in neighboring schools a hands-on experience to understand where food comes from and learn the value of using fresh foods. Beginning today, Stripes Stores will accept applications to award $500 grants and seeds to selected public elementary schools throughout the Stripes market areas to plant the seeds that will be the ingredients for tomorrow’s pico de gallo.

Applications will be open until May 6 at 11:59 pm CST. Selected schools will also receive a “Laredo Taco Company Teachers’ Appreciation Breakfast Party” from Stripes Stores. Awards will be distributed by September 1, 2015. A limit of one grant may be awarded per teacher per school. Selected schools should begin to prepare a fall harvest garden by October 30, 2015.
