SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario – The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service has partnered with Mac’s Convenience Stores for a positive ticketing program, called Operation Heat and Operation Freeze.

Over the next year, police officers will issue tickets/coupons to local youth who they find engaging in positive behavior, reports SOOToday.com. The tickets can be redeemed at any Mac’s Convenience Store for a free hot beverage during the winter months or a free Froster frozen drink during the summer months.

In partnership with Mac’s, police have issued more than 1.2 million Operation Freeze and Operation Heat coupons since 2007. The news source notes that officers look forward to working with Mac’s to promote positive and trusting relationships with local youth.

Overall, Mac’s provides 35,000 coupons to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to reward young people with a free hot beverage or a free Froster for doing a good deed.
