February 26, 2013

ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Our industry continues to face challenges in Congress and your voice is needed more than ever ?" especially as a new Congress continues to take shape in Washington.

Join your peers March 19-20 for NACS Day on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., an event that offers a unique and important opportunity for industry stakeholders to interact directly with members of Congress to educate them about the convenience and fuel retailing industry and discuss how legislation affects their businesses. Legislators use this information to evaluate and consider pending legislation that has the potential to impact the industry and in turn, individual businesses.

NACS will schedule meetings, provide a detailed update on issues we??re taking to Congress, including swipe fees, motor fuels liability reform and mobile commerce security. A NACS staffer and/or an experienced advocate will accompany every retailer and help facilitate the meetings.

In addition to the important messages our industry is delivering to legislators, attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about Congress and how it operates from U.S. Representative Linda T. Sanchez (D-CA), who is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and U.S. Representative Peter J. Roskam (R-IL), who serves as the Chief Deputy Whip and works to secure support for legislation that is considered by the House of Representatives. Attendees will also hear from a panel of veteran congressional staff on why grassroots makes a difference and how your time visiting with members of Congress is vital to the legislative process.

Every day NACS advocates on behalf of the convenience and fuel retailing industry on Capitol Hill. The involvement of retailers and state associations is essential to advocating the industry??s agenda. The more who attend this event, the louder the message.
