Addressing Changes in the Dynamic Fuels Market

Fuels Institute Spring Meeting provides opportunity for collaboration and learning among diverse stakeholders.

February 11, 2015

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – What is happening in the fuels market today? How does a 50% drop in oil prices affect consumers, fuel producers and the automotive industry? How are current regulations affecting market development? What are the long-term effects of today’s market conditions on fuel supply, fuel diversity and demand? Will tomorrow’s consumers have different priorities than they do today, and is the market ready to accommodate their changing needs?

These are the questions to be addressed at the Fuels Institute Spring Meeting, April 29 – May 1 in New Orleans.

Meeting attendees will have the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss the critical issues facing the fuels market. Attendees represent a variety of perspectives including petroleum refiners, automobile manufacturers, biofuels producers, environmental advocates, consumer organizations, market analysts, fuels retailers and distributors, natural gas market developers, hydrogen fuel cell experts and government officials.

As the country’s demographics continue to change the profile of the average driver, it is urgent that the industry responds to the new normal. The Fuels Institute Spring Meeting is unique to the industry, providing a platform for stakeholders to learn how today’s issues are affecting the market as a whole. Through insightful presentations and moderated discussions, attendees are be able to share their perspectives, learn from the diverse experiences of those sitting next to them and walk away with a greater understanding of the forces that are affecting this dynamic market.

New this spring, the Fuels Institute is hosting an academic Case Competition between three universities. The goal is to ideate and present the future of two of the most crucial industries in America: motor fuels and motor vehicles. The winning team will receive a monetary prize and all three competing teams will have their submissions published in future Fuels Institute publications.
