Positive Possibilities

The Positive Side recognizes the good things in life.

February 05, 2016

Dave Jacobs knows bad things can happen—after all, he’s the sales manager for Know Control, which helps retailers win the fight against skimmers—but he also knows the power of positivity. To highlight the good things that happen all around us, Jacobs launched The Positive Side several years ago. NACS Daily recently caught up with Dave to talk about the venture.

NACS Daily: Why did you decide to start The Positive Side?
Dave Jacobs: I think we need to be more about the positive rather than the negative. I truly believe that every day, we see positive, good things but those often are forgotten. Our overall goal is to promote positivity and show everyone, especially kids, that there are positive things they encounter every day and they can make a difference.

ND: How are you doing that?
DJ: We have a Facebook page and we debuted ThePositiveSideApp.com this week. We also ask people to post pictures or stories of positive things. We reward some of those people with gift cards or cash, which have been donated by companies such as Shell Oil and Massage Envy.

ND: What has been the response to The Positive Side?
DJ: It’s been, well, positive. I think people are tired of all the negative news, so it’s fun to go on our Facebook page and read about the good that’s going on in the world around us. Plus, it’s great to recognize those who are facilitating positive moments.

ND: How can we get involved?
DJ: Like our Facebook page, and start promoting positive deeds! Partner with us on giveaways if you can, and encourage your employees to report positive encounters. If you want to donate anything, contact me at dave@thepositiveside.com.

ND: Any final thoughts?
DJ: Our tag line says it all: “If you blink you will miss it.” With The Positive Side, I’m trying to make sure we don’t miss all the good things people are accomplishing.
