CARY, NC - The Pantry announced yesterday its support of the Battle for Kay's Cups, a challenge among Triangle-area high school girls' basketball teams to help the Kay Yow Cancer Fund in its "Battle for Bean Street," with the top fundraising team winning an all-expense paid trip to the 2011 ACC Women's Basketball Championship.

For its part, The Pantry??s Kangaroo Express convenience stores are encouraging consumers to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund by purchasing NC State-branded battle cups.

From now until April 1, Triangle-area Kangaroo Express stores are offering NC State University, University of North Carolina and Duke University-branded Bean Street Coffee cups that can be filled with coffee, hot chocolate or other hot beverages. For every branded cup purchased, the respective school scores a point toward its team total. At the end of the promotion, the school scoring the most points will be crowned Battle for Bean Street Champions and earn a donation from Kangaroo Express of $20,000 toward the charity of its choice. NC State has committed its winnings to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.

Battle for Kay's Cups is a sub-competition for Triangle-area high schools within the Battle for Bean Street campaign. The high school girls' basketball team that collects the most NC State-branded battle cups during February will win an all-expenses paid trip to the 2011 ACC Women??s Basketball Championship on March 6 in Greensboro, N.C.

Students may also compete for the most innovative display of the NC State battle cups. The team with the winning display receives a $150 Kangaroo Express gift card and a $150 Subway gift card, both allocated for gas and or food for the team.
