KANSAS CITY, MO - Dr Pepper has begun testing a new product called Dr Pepper Ten in six U.S. cities, including Kansas City, The Kansas City Star reports.

The new drink targets male soda drinkers in search of a low-calorie, full-flavor soda.

According to the beverage maker, Dr Pepper Ten was developed with a "one-of-a-kind, proprietary sweetener technology to deliver the taste experience of regular [soda but] with just 10 bold calories," said Dave Fleming, spokesperson for Dr Pepper, adding that its research showed some men expressed sacrificing flavor when they drank a diet product.

In Kansas City, Dr Pepper Ten will be sold at Super Target, Walmart, and other grocery stores.

Next month, the company is rolling out a mobile "man cave," a testosterone-charged, four-wheeled brand ambassador that will distribute free samples of Dr Pepper Ten while allowing consumers to hangout and play video games.

In addition to Kansas City, Dr Pepper Ten is being tested in Des Moines, Austin, Denver, Colorado Springs and San Antonio.
