GENEVA, SWITZERLAND ?" The United Nations health agency announced that world leaders will discuss efforts to reduce junk food marketing to children when they meet in New York September 19-20, the Associated Press reports.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said heads of state would use part of the U.N. General Assembly meeting to discuss restricting junk food advertising to children.

According to WHO, 43 million children around the world are overweight or obese, with experts mentioning a "fat tsunami" that is causing millions of premature deaths each year.

Bjorn-Inge Larsen of the Norwegian Directorate of Health said he expects laws will be implemented that limit junk food advertising, similar to what has taken place with tobacco advertising.
