CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Stripes Convenience Stores announced today that it has raised more than $530,000 during the company's first ever in-store college scholarship campaign held in December 2013. The company will award $1,000 scholarships to 533 college-bound students in Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma during the 2014-2015 academic year.

During the four-week campaign customers purchased $1 Stripes College Scholarship Fund paper cutouts. The campaign was held at all Stripes locations throughout the Stripes' operating area and far exceeded the company's campaign goal of $400,000.

"We are proud of our stores teams and the energy they put into the first annual Stripes College Scholarship Fund campaign," said Steve DeSutter, president and CEO of Stripes Convenience Stores. "We will make a difference in the lives of our youth by investing in them today through college scholarships. Again, we are overwhelmed by the generosity of our customers for contributing over half a million dollars to further the education of so many students."

The scholarship awards will be selected and managed by the participating community colleges and universities enrolled in the scholarship program. Stripes Convenience Stores is underwriting all program administrative costs.
