MINNEAPOLIS - Caribou Coffee, the nation??s second-largest coffeehouse chain, announced earlier this week that it is launching hot breakfast sandwiches in its coffeehouses nationwide.

The sandwich line includes Chicken Apple Sausage Daybreaker, Egg White and Turkey Bacon Daybreaker, and Veggie Daybreaker, along with two mini sandwiches, Turkey Bacon Mini and Turkey Sausage Mini.

"Many of our guests make our coffeehouses their first stop of the morning, and we??re proud to offer premium breakfast options that complement the level of quality they expect from our coffee," said Alfredo Martel, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Caribou Coffee.

All of the sandwiches are 310 calories or less. As part of its initial offering, Caribou is offering a pairing of one Daybreaker sandwich and a medium coffee of the day for $4.00.

Leading up to the sandwich rollout, Caribou launched an aggressive media plan in select markets. In Minneapolis, for instance, it transformed transit shelters to larger-than-life warming ovens, complete with heating coils to warm commuters.
