ATLANTA – Starting yesterday, Chick-fil-A began offering the first organic menu option, Honest Kids’ Appley Ever After juice drink, as part of the Chick-fil-A Kid’s Meal in restaurants nationwide.

Appley Ever After is available as a beverage option with the Kid’s Meal at no extra charge, in addition to low-fat regular or chocolate milk and lemonade.

“Our customers have been asking for low calorie options and we are making concerted efforts to add more healthy and sustainable offerings to our menu,” said Matt Abercrombie, senior consultant of menu development for beverages and breakfast for Chick-fil-A.

NBC News reports that the organic drink tested well in the Orlando area. Consumers who chose the organic juice as the kid’s meal drink option did not incur an extra charge. "It really was a great opportunity for us. We're always looking at our kid’s meal," Abercrombie told the news source, adding that the QSR is “evaluating organic in other areas. It has to be the right thing for us. We're not heading for an all-organic menu, but looking for other opportunities."
