EUGENE, Ore. – This week, retail design firm King Retail Solutions (KRS) released the results of a recent survey of consumers, regarding their experiences with convenience stores.

In conducting the survey, KRS identified and surveyed 40 top-rated convenience stores/chains in 22 cities from the West, Midwest, South and Northeast regions of the country. The 550 most recent Yelp! reviews of those stores (about 140 from each region) were analyzed, and pros and cons mentioned in the review were identified and catalogued.

KRS analyzed the data by gender as well as region of the United States. For example, they found that cleanliness ranks as a top three quality for Southerners, but does not make the top three for any other region of the United States. On the other hand, fresh prepared food made the top three in all regions except for the West.

The study also breaks out the top four benefits cited by shoppers for some of the top-rated retailers nationwide, breaking down those qualities by retailer. For example, 90% of their shoppers mentioned low prices as a benefit of shopping at ampm (BP).
