Powerball and Mega Millions are coming soon to the Cowboy State.

CHEYENNE – Jon Clontz, CEO of the Wyoming Lottery Corp., announced last week that he is confident lottery tickets will kickoff as early as June, but he said the start date could be as late as October, the Wyoming News reports.

Contract negotiations will impact the final start date, after which Wyoming resident will be able to buy Powerball and Mega Millions tickets.

In Wyoming’s last legislative session, lawmakers approved House Bill 77, which called for the creation of a state lottery. However, the law prohibits instant-win games like scratch-off tickets.

The Lottery is currently developing a system for retail business that want to sell tickets. Prospective lottery retailers will be able to apply on the lottery’s website — still under development — within the next 60 to 90 days.
