PCATS Annual Conference Sponsors Reach Record Level

Industry's commitment to specifically address technology standards grows, as attendees prepare for next week's meeting.

ALEXANDRIA, VA - Sponsorships for the Petroleum and Convenience Alliance for Technology Standards (PCATS) Annual Conference have topped a record $50,000. The PCATS Annual Meeting will take place January 17 to 19 at the Loews Hotel in New Orleans, LA.

"Our industry??s leading retailers and suppliers have sent a strong show of support for the important technical standards and data security work that PCATS conducts on behalf of the industry," said PCATS Executive Director Gray Taylor. The PCATS Annual Conference is the only industry event that specifically addresses technology standards to improve business processes, reduce costs and increase productivity in the convenience and petroleum retail sector. The four-day gathering of PCATS Business and Technical Committees features informative conversations, distinguished luncheon speakers and quality interaction with fellow industry professionals through valuable education and networking opportunities.

Held in January, the PCATS Annual Conference is open to all industry professionals regardless of their PCATS membership status. Association personnel, convenience store operators, media representatives, petroleum marketers, solution providers, State lottery agents and suppliers gather to openly discuss industry challenges and learn about the latest industry technology standards development and implementation efforts underway.

Sheetz provided the largest retailer sponsorship, pledging at the Platinum level, continuing a long heritage of sponsoring the Annual Conference and PCATS.

Six companies agreed to sponsor at the Gold level: CITGO, The Pinnacle Corporation, Gilbarco Veeder-Root, PepsiCo Inc., Verifone and NACS.

Three retail members agreed to sponsor at the Silver level: Kwik Trip, ALON Brands and Flash Foods. The Pantry, BP Products NA and American Technology Corporation agreed to sponsor at the Bronze level.

PCATS was founded in 2004 to continue the development and maintenance of standards work initiated under the NACS Technology Standards Project. The mission of PCATS is to develop, maintain and assist members in the implementation of a variety of technology standards. With more than 170 members, the group??s membership represents 22,000-plus convenience stores. Membership is open to any petroleum retailer, convenience store owner/operator, other retail channels or any of their suppliers or vendors. Last year NACS integrated PCATS as independent standards organization that is part of NACS.
