VANCOUVER – Canadian consumers who don’t want to leave their apartment building for those last-minute staples may be in luck, thanks to a new vending option that is becoming more popular in apartment buildings and similar locations.

Machines from Happy Vending will stock popular convenience store items — including fresh produce and dairy items — and can be customized to tell when a product expires to the hour.

Company founder Jason Moyal told a Vancouver news source “We call them automatic convenience stores. Anything from eggs and milk and bacon and shampoo and dog food and ground coffee, everything you can think of that you usually forget or need in a hurry, we bring this convenient solution to your property.”

Happy Vending’s first two machines will be rolled out in Vancouver by the end of January and items will be priced similarly to what they would cost at local convenience stores. The machines will start by offering the top 40 products sold in convenience stores and gas stations, but the pilot launch will also allow building residents to provide input on what items to carry in their machines.
