ROMAYOR, Texas - 787 Grocery/BBQ has found its niche ?" the rustic convenience store is making a name for itself thanks to alligator meat.

787 Grocery/BBQ is located in Cleveland, Texas, about one hour from Houston. The store sells approximately 100 pounds of alligator each week, which is incorporated into alligator tamales, nachos, burgers and more.

The alligator meat isn??t farm raised; it??s straight from the swamp. The Heberts purchase the meat from nuisance trappers (i.e., alligators that make their way to carports and backyards of homeowners). The cost of alligator meat is about $10 per pound.
