Two Brands of Convenience Coming to North Carolina

Royal Farms and Arko unveil plans for new locations in Lumberton and Newport.

Royal Farms announced its upcoming expansion into Lumberton, North Carolina. The new Royal Farms store is scheduled to open its doors in Lumberton on May 20, 2024.

The location will feature a gas station with sixteen fueling positions and operate 24 hours, 365 days a year and deliver the “same high standards of quality and convenience that customers have come to expect; from freshly prepared fried chicken and made-to-order sandwiches to an array of breakfast options, Royal Farms offers something for everyone, any time of day,” the company said.

"We're excited to reveal our newest store in Lumberton, enriching the local dining scene with our hallmark freshness and unmatched convenience," shared Kim Kneipp, district leader at Royal Farms. "At Royal Farms, we're dedicated to crafting experiences that delight customers and streamline daily routines. We're eager to bring our passion to the vibrant Lumberton community."

Royal Farms will host a ticketed soft opening event where customers can check out the new store and be served one free meal from the soft opening menu.

Meanwhile, Arko Corp., announced today that its subsidiary, GPM Investments, broke ground on what will be a new Handy Mart branded location in Newport, North Carolina, scheduled to open later this year.

“We have been very happy with the performance of our Handy Mart stores, which we acquired in November of 2021, and our ability to improve performance at those stores,” said Arie Kotler, president and CEO of Arko. “Building upon the strong community ties of the Handy Mart brand in North Carolina, we are very excited to begin construction on our first new-to-industry location under the Handy Mart banner since our acquisition, which will showcase many of our new initiatives and offerings in a beautiful and inviting store design. The addition of this new store is just another destination where customers that enroll in our loyalty program, fas REWARDS, can take advantage of daily, significant savings.”

The new location will be a 5,600-square-foot store and equipped with 30 parking spaces, 12 fueling positions, four diesel fueling positions and two truck fueling lanes. The store will offer food and beverage service options such as bean-to-cup hot and iced coffee, Frazil frozen drinks, breakfast sandwiches, Nathan’s hot dogs, Tornados, fried chicken, cheeseburgers, $4.99 pizza, both take-and-bake and served hot and $2.99 Tyson chicken sandwiches. Additionally, the new location will have 14 doors for cold packaged beverages, 24 fountainheads and a walk-in beer cave.
