What is the difference between the State of the Industry Report and the Fact Book?

The NACS State of the Industry Report is based on confidential data submitted by retail companies participating in the annual survey. The report provides an industry overview and critical data analysis in categories of finance, store operations, merchandising and fuel sales and is accompanied with corresponding text and charts. The data is also presented in a comparative performance quartile format based on store operating profit, allowing retailers to benchmark their operations against top performers. By using these metrics, retailers can improve their operations through greater understanding of the key financial and operational drivers of convenience store performance.

The SOI Fact Book provides a historical recap of the industry over the past several years — or in some cases, decades. Delivered in excel format, the Fact Book contains more than 450 spreadsheets of extracted data derived from the State of the Industry and is designed for easy manipulation and custom reporting. Please note that the Fact Book consists solely of data as it does not come with any accompanying analysis or charts.
